Although my stay in Porto, Portugal was only for 4 days, I can say I was lucky to taste some of the yummiest dishes Porto can offer.
Being a food blogger , I think I know a thing or two about good food ….so based on my humble opinion, here are some of the spots I was able to try during my latest trip :
–Ostras y Coisas : I couldn’t rave more about this place.. the food is amazing, the atmosphere is romantic and inviting and the service is top notch. During this visit, I tried their shrimp and mussels appetizers and both dishes were very well executed. The sauce is great to dip with the warm bread they offer. Order a nice bottle of prosecco and you will be in for a great evening. I recommend you make reservations and request to seat on the second floor. It’s much more intimate and great for a date night.
Real Indiana: Stumbled upon this place while walking alongside the beach in Matosinhos and couldn’t have been happier we did! First off the decor of this place is romantic, inviting and great for conversation. The staff is very nice and accommodating.
Now, onto the important stuff…the food!! Complimentary naan bread with 3 different kinds of sauces , we ordered the coconut curry shrimp and the regular curry shrimp…both choices were tasty but by far the coconut curry was a winner! Portions were good enough to share ..pair that with a bottle of Mateus wine and you are in for a great night.
A great place to have dinner and by far one of the best spots for Indian food.
Mercado de Bom Sucesso: Great place to check out when in Porto. The mercado is full of different restaurants with a variety of cuisines to try. I opted for the tapas, tried a few pinchos paired with prosecco . The atmosphere is very laid back and I saw they offer live performances on different days of the week. Prices are reasonable and the service is good.
Bacalhau: If you haven’t been to Portugal yet, let me let you in on a fact.. you must taste the bacalhau…I mean is everywhere! from fried , boiled, pate…you name it, they have it. So what better than to try a restaurant with that name. Quaint and cozy lil restaurant tucked away in a corner with an amazing view of the river. I tried some of their tapas and the bacalhau paste and cheese platter which were really good. Many of the other dishes in the menu looked quite tasty; would definitely want to try some more in the future. The service is on point and the prices are very reasonable. If is not too windy, try to seat outside. Great place for an epic picture.
